HSE Students Earn Art Awards

Two students in Hamilton Southeastern’s schools earned National Scholastic Art Awards recently.

Hamilton Southeastern High School senior Hope Smith received a Silver Key Award for a colored pencil drawing entitled “Library.” Hamilton Southeastern Junior High student Katie Lightfoot also was honored with a Silver Key Award for her sculpture titled “Don’t Throw the Baby Out with the Bathwater.”

Judges awarded both artworks Gold Key Awards in the central Indiana competition in February qualifying them for the national contest. Lightfoot’s project was completed under the instruction of teacher Kathy Gammons, and Smith’s piece, for Angela Fritz’s class
