No Door to Door Solicitation Stickers Available
The “No Door to Door Solicitation” stickers are ready! Anyone interested in obtaining a sticker can come to the Fishers Police Department, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Each person may pick up 20 stickers at a time. The stickers should be handed out to homeowners that will post the sticker on their home. We recommend that stickers are placed by the front door near the doorbell in a conspicuous location. Visibility from the street is preferred if possible.

Fishers residents can learn the latest tips for designing, cultivating and maintaining a spectacular garden without having to use expensive fertilizers or huge amounts of water during dry periods.
Organized by Hamilton County's Urban Conservationist, Shaena Smith, interested residents can attend without the expectation that this is another one of those FREE events that are nothing more than one of those marketing pitches disguised as a workshop. Hamilton County is seeking to educate homeowners and gardening enthusiasts about the simple ways to grow a breath-taking garden without adversely affecting the environment with harmful synthetic fertilizers.

Fishers Freedom Festival’s Royal Court
The Fishers Freedom Festival proudly announces its 2008 Royal Court which is sponsored by Community Health Network. The court is made up of a queen, a king, four princesses and four princes. The Fishers Freedom Festivalʼs Royal Court will be crowned on Saturday, June 28 during the opening ceremonies. Their duties include riding on the Royal Courtʼs float in the Fishers Freedom Festivalʼs Childrenʼs Parade at 10 a.m. and the Main Parade both on Sunday, June 29 at 4 p.m.

Public Input Sought for Mass Transit Options Along Nickle Plate Line
The public is invited to review and comment on transit system options currently being considered for the Northeast Corridor, our region’s busiest. As the Central Indiana’s primary transportation planner, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) made a preliminary Northeast Corridor transit route and technology recommendation on April 30 to the Indianapolis Regional Transportation Council (IRTC) – the decision-making body of the regional transportation planning process. In addition to that proposed system, the MPO and the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA) will present details at public meetings on a lower cost, faster-to-implement ‘starter system’ that could meet the commuting needs of the Northeast Corridor in as little as 3-5 years. FHS and HSEHS quiz bowl teams go to nationals; one reaches finals
Two quiz bowl teams from Fishers High School and one from Hamilton Southeastern High School competed in the National Academic Championship in Chicago June 7-9. One FHS squad made it to the final round. The FHS and HSEHS teams qualified to participate based on performances in tournaments and the White River Academic League during the school year.

FHS competition raises over $7,000, results in close shave for team leaders
Fishers High School’s faculty and administration competed to collect the most for the Fishers area Relay for Life and put some hair on the line. The team raising the smaller amount was to shave its leader’s head. Principal Jason Urban was the administration leader and Brian Shults, the faculty leader. The administration collected nearly $3,000 while the faculty came up with $4,500. The fundraising would benefit cancer victims, survivors and awareness through the American Cancer Society. HSE Picks Teacher of the Year, Honors Staff Members
Hamilton Southeastern Schools held an end-of-the-year program to honor certified staff members with teacher-of-the-year, retirement and years-of-service recognition last Friday.
Fishers Junior High English teacher Tony Sturgeon was selected as the HSE District Teacher of the Year and will represent the corporation in the state-wide competition for Indiana Teacher of the Year. He will submit a portfolio later in the summer and the state honor is announced in the fall.
