The Carmel Player’s production of “Seussical the Musical” includes several actors with local ties. Kurt Krauter, son of Geist residents Lee and Joe Krauter, plays “General Von Schmitt” (decked out in pink camouflage and feathers), while four of his children assume other roles in this humorous production.
Kelly (16) plays one of the leads as “Gertrude McFuzz,” a little bird girl who falls in love with Horton the Elephant. Katie (12) and Courtney (10) are part of the “Who” family, and Michael (8) is “Thing 2.”
Seussical the Musical will be playing Aug. 1-3 and Aug. 8-10 at Clay Middle School, 5150 E. 126th St., Carmel. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. For more information, visit www.carmelplayers.org.

About the Author
As Managing Editor of at.Geist.com, it's probably no surprise that I have loved writing ever since I was old enough to make up a story and write it down on paper. My first taste of journalism was in high school, where I was editor-in-chief of the school paper. My favorite type of story then (and now) was a good feature article on an interesting person.
I decided early on to pursue journalism during my college years at Ball State, where I worked on the Ball State Daily News, interned at the Kokomo Tribune, and then went to work for The Muncie Star (now the Star-Press).
I graduated in 1996 and married my college sweetheart, William. We moved to Castleton, and I worked as a reporter for the Noblesville Daily Ledger (out of the Fishers office on Ind. 37) until my first child was born in June of 1999. Since then, I have enjoyed staying home with my three children, ages 3-9. Through the years, I have done freelance journalism, wedding and family photography and corporate public relations.
We moved to Geist in 2005, and I started writing for atGeist in early 2006, becoming Managing Editor a year later. I have enjoyed meeting many of my "neighbors" who are doing fascinating things. There are so many great people and great stories to be told "at Geist!"

If you want to give your family a treat just before you send them off to school, take them to see “Seussical the Musical.” The kids will love it and you parents will have beautiful memories of your childhood when you were reading THE CAT IN THE HAT, GREEN EGGS AND HAM etc. Kurt Krauter (my son), who plays General GK Schmitz is hilarious, Kelly(granddaughter - who by the way captured the title of “Miss Carmel Idol” 2008), plays Gertrude McFuzz and is fantastic, Katie & Courtney play the Who’s and little Michael is Thing #2. Even tho this is “Momcat” purring, but don’t miss this one!
