The Fishers Freedom Festival announces their 2007 T-Shirt design contest open to any Hamilton Southeastern district student grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Winners will receive a free T-Shirt bearing their design, a trophy, and will be featured in the Sunday, June 24th Main Parade.
There will be one winner from each of two categories. The Elementary (K - 4th grade) category winner will have their drawing featured pocket-sized on the front of the shirt. The Middle/Junior School (5th grade – 8th grade) category winner will have their drawing featured full-sized on the back of the shirt.
Keep in mind that the T-Shirts are white. All entries must have the following in their design and be legible:
“2007 Fishers Freedom Festival”
“Take Pride in Your Community…Volunteer!”
Drawings can have up to four colors.
Drawings must be on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper.
Drawings should be submitted no later than April 15th to the Hamilton Southeastern Administration Office (13485 Cumberland Road in Fishers), mailed to the Fishers Freedom Festival at P.O. Box 930, Fishers, IN 46038 or dropped off at the festival office (8601 E. 116th Street, directly behind Fritz in Fishers car dealership). On the back of the entry, make sure to include the student’s first and last name, birth date, grade, telephone number, school, and art teacher’s name. Only one entry per student. No computer drawings allowed and previous T-Shirt contest winners are ineligible. Drawings will not be returned and become the property of the Fishers Freedom Festival for reproduction.
A selection committee will sort through all entries looking for creativeness and color selection. All designs need to be easily reproduced into a T-Shirt. The school with the most submitted entries will receive a plaque for their efforts.
The final 2007 T-Shirt will be available for purchase during the Fishers Freedom Festival and also in June in the Fishers Freedom Festival Office and off the Festival’s web site (www.FishersFreedomFestival.org). Proceeds benefit future Fishers Freedom Festivals.
Out of over 1,200 entries, last year’s winners were Brook Byrd of Fall Creek Intermediate School and Emily Curnow of Fishers Junior High School.
Back in 1989, the founders of the Fishers Parade and Festival decided to have a community gathering to celebrate Independence Day. With the help of volunteers, the event originated as a one-day community picnic, parade, and a few games for the children. Due to the overwhelming participation by the public, this event grew to a two-day event.
The 19th Annual Fishers Freedom Festival will be Saturday, June 23 & Sunday, June 24, 2007. The Festival is always in need of volunteers at different levels of participation.
