In recent meetings, the Hamilton Southeastern School Board of School Trustees has approved new positions for three current district administrators.
Jason Urban was announced as the principal of Fishers High School during the April 28 Board meeting.
“I can’t think of a better place to be a high school principal. Fishers High School has an incredibly talented staff. We have talented students, and we are embraced by a community that puts a high value on the education of children,” Urban said. Urban had been the school’s acting principal since January and was previously an assistant principal at the school.
“Fishers High School has much to be proud of in our two years as a high school,” Urban said. “We are one of just 23 high schools in the United States to be named this year as a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education.”
“As good as we are, the school’s focus is on constantly improving the instruction that our students receive and preparing our kids for life after high school,” Urban continued. He has served as a high school administrator in the roles of assistant principal and athletic director for seven years. Prior to joining the Fishers High School staff, Urban worked at Tipton High School and Westfield High School.
In an earlier meeting the Board approved Shawn Greiner as principal of the new Thorpe Creek Elementary set to open in August. Currently in his third year as principal at Harrison Parkway Elementary, he previously was a principal in Richmond as well as principal and teacher in Connersville schools.
“I am looking forward to being a part of opening the new school, creating a warm, nurturing, inviting environment where each child is supported and will reach his individual potential,” said Greiner. He believes the collaborative efforts of staff, parents and community will make Thorpe Creek Elementary School a “Great place to be!”
In addition, current Riverside School Michael Beresford will move next year to the Administration Center to be supervisor of student services. “It was a very difficult decision because I love the Riverside School community, but I also feel very blessed to be able to work at the district level and hopefully contribute in a positive way. I’ve spent 15 of my 25 years in education here at Hamilton Southeastern, and I’m committed to serve this district in any way that I can.” In addition, Beresford was an assistant principal in MSD of Lawrence Township and taught at Ben Davis and Benton Central high schools.
