Tests on Geist Come Back slightly lower

Bridge over Geist Test results on the water samples pulled earlier this week from Geist Reservoir show a slight decrease in the blue-green algae toxins, but we are not out of the woods yet. The Indiana Department of Health has not lifted their recreational use advisory for Geist, warning all boaters, swimmers, and fishermen to use caution over Labor Day weekend.

Earlier tests in late July showed a 2.6 parts per billion (”ppb”) concentration of the blue-green algae toxin in the water. Tests ran earlier this week came back slightly lower (2.1 ppb near the dam and 1.6 ppb near the marina), but not low enough for the Indiana Department of Health to lift the advisory.
