Kids in the Kitchen: Ice-Screamin’ Summerlicious Smoothie

May 6, 2008 by Janet Striebel

IMG_2631 With summer approaching soon, the kids will be searching for something to snack on between jaunts in and out of the house. Here is a recipe for a delightfully refreshing snack that the kids can make themselves. Depending on the ages of your children, you may wish to supervise them while following these simple steps.

Ice-Screamin’ Summerlicious Smoothie

1 cup of juice (mixed fruit, grape, cranberry-apple, cherry…)
1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries
1 frozen banana (peeled and cut into chunks)
2 scoops of ice-cream (strawberry or vanilla)
4 to 5 ice cubes
Strawberries for garnishing
Whipped cream

Servings: 3

Combine all of the ingredients into the blender, making sure the juice is first. (This will not only make it easier on the motor of your blender, but it will also make it easier for the ingredients to homogenize.) Blend until smooth. Serve in a clear, plastic glass with a straw. You may wish to garnish the top of the glass with a strawberry and whipped cream for a restaurant-quality look!
