Indianapolis Monthly Dream Home comes to Geist

The Dream Home for Indianapolis Monthly magazine will be in Geist this year.
And I have to say, I have seen many Dream Homes around Indy over the years, but I don’t remember ever seeing one with a view as incredible as this one — under construction in our own backyard!
It is located in the Hampton Cove community along Fall Creek Road just past the Marina. If you’re dining alfresco on the Bella Vita deck, you may be able to spot this elegant home.
I saw this fabulous view on a recent tour of the home. I walked out onto one of the unfinished decks (with no railing yet) and from a couple of stories up, you could see down an open stretch of the lake. With a few sailboats dotting the horizon and a jet skier buzzing by the shoreline, it was one, great “sweet escape” to see!
Oh, and yes, the home is beautiful, too!
It has been over a decade since there has been an Indianapolis Monthly Dream Home built in Geist. Indianapolis Monthly magazine presents one home each year built by a selected builder in a selected neighborhood around Indianapolis. A team of decorators add their finishing touches, and then the home is open to the public for tours, with proceeds going to the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana. Builders and designers get to showcase their work, and you pick up some great ideas for your own home.
This year, Brad Bowman and Terry Pyatt from Homes By Design are building the Mediterranean/Tuscan inspired home, along with a team of about five designers and decorators. The outside is a golden stucco finish, with an authentic tile roof and front doors that have been stained and glazed for a beautiful “old world” feel.
While the inside is still mostly a shell, you can see the makings of what will be a stunning home. A grand entryway staircase takes you either upstairs to a lavish master suite, or downstairs past a planned indoor garden area. The lower level– with 14- to 16-foot ceilings — will be home to a bar, game room, cigar room and theatre, not to mention an exercise room with a steam room and sauna.
From here you head outside, where you will find an outdoor kitchen, bar, fireplace and an infinity edge pool that appears to be spilling into Geist Lake! Not a lot inside yet, but the kitchen also has the natural looking, chiseled edge stone flooring with a crema Bordeaux granite that sports a reddish hue, much like a fine Bordeaux wine.
The home will be open for public tours October 4th. For those interested in purchasing the home, you may contact Jan Campbell with Weichert Realtors for a private showing. In the meantime, I will keep you posted on the progress of the home.
