Happy Mother’s Day!
Just a short note of thanks to all those moms out there. As couples become parents, you realize what your mom did for you as a kid. As we become older and our kids go off to college, we realize it even more. I’m very proud of my mom, she was a stay at home mom during the 70’s and early 80’s while we were young. She wanted to get back into the workforce so she took a job at our elementary school in the kitchen so she could see us at school every day. As we got older, she progressed in the food industry and eventually ran the meal programs for two nursing homes in Martinsville. She continued her education, got certifications, aced board of health visits, and was loved by all the residents for her homemade cooking and special “monster” cookies (which will be in an upcoming “atGeist Community Newsletter”). Today, she still works in the nursing home business, but she’s looking at a retirement soon. I hope I can model myself after her. I love you, mom.
