Geist resident and published author J. Andy Murphy is working with the City of Lawrence, the Partnership for Lawrence, and atGeist.com to create the first ever “Indy BookTalk Conference” which will be held at Lawrence North on Saturday, October 11th.
Book lovers from around the Midwest will converge in Lawrence to meet and hear from local celebrities like WIBC 93.1’s Terri Stacey, WISH-TV news anchor Ruth Ann Gordon, Lawrence Mayor Paul Ricketts, and WISH-TV anchor and published author Dick Wolfsie. National best-selling authors will be coming to town to host book club sessions in the afternoon. Publishing professionals will host workshops throughout the day on what it takes to become a published author.
In conjunction with the Partnership for Lawrence, Indy BookTalk will also host a book cover design competition and exhibit those entries during the all-day conference.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the MSDLT’s Community Education program, earmarked for literacy and credit recovery programs for Lawrence Township students. Cost is $49 to $99 per person with a $10 discount being offered for book clubs or groups of 6 or more.
