On Tuesday, July 10, Indianapolis-area Applebee’s restaurants will donate 15 percent of every bill to BackPack Attack, a school-supplies drive benefiting Indianapolis Public Schools, if patrons present a donation coupon. Coupons can be downloaded and printed by visiting www.backpackattackindy.org. Applebee’s is offering this donation promotion in all 31 Indianapolis-area locations for lunch and dinner.
“This is the first time that Applebee’s has committed all of their stores, and they are dedicated to making this an annual event. BackPack Attack is grateful for this unique and generous partnership,” said Marty Posch, chair of this year’s drive.
In 2006, 405,000 school supplies from 230 companies and organizations met the basic needs of 20,000 Indianapolis children. In 2007, BackPack Attack’s goal is to serve more children by collecting 425,000 school supplies from 250 groups. Sponsors this year include Citizen’s Gas, State Farm Insurance, ProLiance Energy and Marsh Supermarkets.
The BackPack Attack is organized by a collaboration of companies and institutions: Bridges To Success, Indianapolis Public Schools, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, The Children’s Museum, United Parcel Service, United Way of Central Indiana and the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. The drive runs from June 21 – July 27, 2007. For more information about being a donor site, contact Marty Posch at 317-278-8573 or visit www.BackPackAttackIndy.org.
